Navigator

Navigator is a multi-role learning platform built for Benesse’s India expansion, supporting students, teachers, mentors, and operations teams preparing for the CUET exam. I joined to improve UI consistency and quickly became the founding product designer, leading UX research, product architecture and dashboard systems across web and mobile. The work evolved from fixing fragmented identity flows to building data-to-action workflows that help schools diagnose learning gaps and plan targeted interventions at scale.

Context

How Might We

How might we design a unified learning platform that transforms fragmented assessment data into clear, role-specific actions for within the constraints of large classrooms, limited digital maturity and high-stakes national exams?

Key Challenges

Pain, Insight & Opportunity

Pain, Insight &
Opportunity

Data Without Teaching Direction
Assessment results were available, but teachers lacked visibility into topic-level weaknesses and improvement trends, making it difficult to plan corrective instruction.
Fragmented Systems and Identity
Designing for Speed and Simplicity
Students and teachers navigated multiple tools with inconsistent login flows, increasing cognitive load, password failures and operational dependency.
Creating simple worksheets takes approximately 15 minutes each day, indicating a need to streamline and speed up the process
Indiability to focus on instruction and student engagement. Need for streamlining these tasks and support professional growth.

Lack of Visibility into Individual Performance
While each student's performance is mapped across various topics,
there is a lack of clear visibility into individual strengths and
weaknesses making it challenging to identify areas for improvement
High Administrative Burden Reducing Instructional Focus
Indiability to focus on instruction and student engagement. Need for streamlining these tasks and support professional growth.
High Operational Overhead
Manual account creation, password resets, and school tracking created friction during peak exam cycles and slowed platform adoption.

My Approach

0–1 Platform Architecture Strategy

Worked closely with PMs and engineers to evolve from UI fixes into a full product layer that unified assessments, mentorship, insights into one scalable platform.

0-1 Product Launch Strategy

Collaborated with PMs, engineers and internal stakeholders to create seamless AI exerience
Learning Gap Architecture
Rebuilt performance views from aggregate scores into question-level and topic-level diagnostics, enabling targeted remediation planning.

01

Role-Based Entry Dashboards
Introduced dashboards as the primary navigation layer, allowing each role to quickly access relevant tasks, insights and actions without navigating complex menus.

02

Interaction Strategy - Customized Design System Using Ant Design
I extended the system with: Custom dashboard cards, Performance visualization patterns, Remediation and action modules, Education-specific form components

03

Heuristic Evaluation & Identity Fixes with Decision Workflows
Conducted usability audits on login, profile management and password recovery flows, addressing error prevention, messaging clarity and cross-product consistency and responsiveness

04

Deliverables

SYSTEM READINESS & PLATFORM SCALABILITY

  1. Scrollable brief editor with live AI-generated cards
  2. Visual nudge system with missing-field reminder
  3. Summary review page with confidence marker

EXPANSION INTO A PRODUCT ECOSYSTEM

Following Navigator, MY design strategy expanded into adjacent learning products built on the same interaction and data architecture. I led the efforts to creating product ecocystem with :
  • AI Drill - a mobile-first practice companion to guide daily exam preparation and reinforce weak concepts through adaptive exercises
  • Sensei AI - an AI-assisted workflow tool to support lesson planning, feedback generation, and daily task management for teachers

Designing for Action,
Not Just Insight

Learning platforms must move beyond analytics to support decision-making, planning and follow-through. True impact comes from connecting data with clear instructional next steps inside everyday workflows.
